JERRY O'HAGAN and his ORCHESTRA

Big Band Swing and Ballroom Dance Music

Since 1990, clarinetist Jerry O'Hagan has led this 14 piece orchestra to play for more than 650 dances, weddings, and parties in the upper midwest. His play list includes waltzes, foxtrots, east and west coast swing, rhumbas, sambas, cha-chas, polkas, and some early rock. The full 14 piece instrumentation includes clarinet, 4 saxes, 3 trumpets, 2 trombones, piano, bass, drums, and a female vocalist. Jerry writes many of the arrangements for the band.

Jerry studied music at Bemidji State University, the University of Minnesota, and the Berklee School of Music in Boston, MA. While at Berklee, he was a student of Joe Raposo, who wrote the music for the television show Sesame Street. The next year he had arranging lessons with Johnny Richards, who was Stan Kenton's chief arranger for many years. Jerry played clarinet in the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra for three years and has played with many bands in the Twin City area, including the Jules Herman Orchestra.

The band also features quality musicians who have played with such big name entertainers as The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Larry Elgart, Mel Torme, Artie Shaw, Ray Charles, Maynard Ferguson, and others.

Charmin Michelle is the band's featured female vocalist, and sings with the band at the Cinema Ballroom on most Sunday evenings.

The band plays for dancing every Sunday night from 7:00 to 10:00 P.M. at the

Cinema Ballroom

1560 St. Clare Avenue, St. Paul, Minnesota.

The dance is a public dance, all ages admitted.
